Where does our money go?

Cultural Arts. 

The past several years the PTO has been able to set aside $10,000, $5,000 per school, to be used for the educational enrichment of our children.  The amounts are divided equally between grade levels.  The grade level teams get together and decide how to best use these funds.  In the past, this money has been used towards off campus field trips, like the Butterfly Place, in house field trips, like Curious Creatures or guest authors, like Maryann Coco-leffler.  We are proud to be able to defray costs and help bring the student’s curriculum to life. 

Scholarships 

(Merrimac PTO Scholarship, The Jean Connor Scholarship)

We annually give 2 $1,000.00 scholarships to 2 graduating Merrimac Seniors.  Applications are available at both Pentucket High School and Whittier Vocational High School.  A Committee of Merrimac Teachers and Parents reviews all applications and rewards the scholarships based on academic success, volunteerism, involvement in extra curricular activities and overall need. 

Holiday Helper

The PTO is a proud contributor to this yearly event. This is a total community effort by many local organizations, to come to the support of families in need, within our own community. For many years, the PTO has purchased, with our funds, new clothing for the deserving families.
